Hoo Farm Animal Kingdom names the Foster Carers Association as its

Charity of Choice 2017

Last night (4th December 2016) at a private showing of the Christmas Nativity, Hoo Farm Animal Kingdom ( in collaboration with Sofood! and the Wrekin & Telford Singers, put on an exclusive charity evening for the families of The Foster Carers Association who foster children for Telford & Wrekin Council.(

The evening began with a carol concert from the Wrekin and Telford Singers (, who performed from their repertoire of Christmas music – including a very special performance of 12 Days of (Hoo Farm) Christmas. (Lyrics below).

Comments from parents attending included “the concert was just brilliant. A lovely way to get us all into the Christmas spirit and to kick-start the season. The kids enjoyed singing along too”.

Over 100 guests were in attendance to enjoy the celebrations. They were also able to sample Christmassy delights, donated from So Food ( who brought festive flavours with their turkey and stuffing baps, mulled apple juice, and mince pies.

Full of Christmas food and spirit, the families were able to enjoy Hoo Farm’s unique nativity, starring the Hoo Farm animals along with selected members of the audience. The children were very excited to take part, saying “getting up close to the animals was amazing – I stroked the donkey”, and “the countdown to the light switch on was very exciting”.

Parents said of the night “A wonderful evening, really embodying what Christmas is all about”, and “Now it really feels like Christmas – we will definitely be coming back!”

Will Dorrell, Hoo Farm Partner said on the night “Hoo Farm Animal Kingdom supports the Foster Carers Association because they help children and families in need in our local community, and make a big difference in their lives. We have officially announced our support of the charity this weekend, and have begun by collecting to raise funds for them.”

Shirley Wilson, Project Coordinator at Telford Fostering said “We really appreciate Hoo Farm selecting our Foster Carers Association to benefit not only from their fundraising, but from this wonderful Christmas event. One of the challenges facing foster families is finding occasions suitable to attend as a family, both on a safety basis for the vulnerable children they foster, and from a financial perspective to take both their birth and foster children. Enjoying the concert, food and nativity as a family will have been a very special experience tonight.”

Hoo Farm Animal Kingdom have selected Telford & Wrekin Foster Carers Association as their 2017 Charity of Choice, and will be holding various fundraising events on their behalf throughout the year, as well as placing collection tins in their shop and café.

Maureen Horton, Chair of the Telford & Wrekin Foster Carers Association said “On behalf of the families and the fostering association, we would like to thank the Wrekin and Telford Singers, So Food, and Hoo Farm Animal Kingdom for creating such a wonderful event for us, and look forward to working with you again in the future. Wishing you all a very merry Christmas”.
